Our "WHY?"

Diverse Mind was created from a deeply personal journey. Like many families, we saw early signs that our child needed support — but what followed was a long and frustrating wait, over a year just to receive an autism diagnosis. By the time our son was diagnosed, he was nearly six years old and had missed the critical window for early intervention.

We quickly learned that, by law, a medical diagnosis is required for children to access essential therapies and services. Without it, families are left waiting while valuable developmental time is lost. That experience changed everything for us — and it became the reason we built Diverse Mind: to ensure no family has to go through the same delays we did.

Our mission is to bridge the gap in autism care by providing timely, accurate, and compassionate assessments. We are committed to reducing diagnostic wait times, improving access to early intervention, and offering inclusive options for families with or without insurance. Through a family-centered and professional approach, we strive to ensure that every child receives the support they need—when it matters most.

Diverse Mind is led by Michele Wijangco, FNP‑C, APRN, MSN, CAS, a board‑certified Family Nurse Practitioner and Certified Autism Specialist trained in ADOS‑2. As both a clinician and co‑founder, Michele brings a unique blend of professional expertise and personal commitment to every evaluation.

We are proud to be fully SB 257 compliant, ensuring that our assessments meet the highest standards of accuracy and accessibility. Michele is passionate about providing timely, comprehensive autism evaluations so families can access the care they need without long wait times.
